OVERVIEW

TERMDATA for Radio is a cable termination viewer and editor package designed to simplify display and editing of termination data for radio stations.

Station Engineering staff maintain the termination data for their sites in a number of ways, the most common system at present is by using Microsoft Excel. This does however create multiple Work Sheets relating to multiple areas and equipment and is not the most efficient way of either tracing or maintaining the termination data.

In the majority of radio stations equipment is installed utilising intermediate connection methods such as Krone Insulation Displacement blocks to facilitate wiring. The blocks are normally arranged using a Vertical frame or indeed a number of frames.

TERMDATA For Radio solves this issue by providing a fast front end to all of the termination data plus allows the user to perform Net Trace functions for a particular circuit through out the entire installation. Frames can accommodate a number of blocks, each of which can accommodate 10 pairs. Frames are normally arranged vertically and can be of differing sizes. The most common sizes are 11, 27 and 66 way frames.

Each vertical frame has a unique number or letter, normally starting at A. Each block also has a unique number. In some installations the blocks are numbered from the top of the frame to the bottom, in others, they are reversed. An example of a unique termination for a pair would then be A01-01, relating to Vertical A, Block 01, Pair 01.

If the termination is going to the Main Distribution Frame (MDF), the representation would be MDF A01-01, being MDF Vertical A, Block 01, Pair 01. It is important that the correct numbering format is maintained ie 01 rather than 1, as this is used in sorting of the records.

Jumpering is used to inter connect terminations. Jumpers comprise a single or a twisted pair from one termination point to a second termination point. Main terminations are on the upper side of the Krone module, whilst jumpers are connected on the lower side of the module

TERMDATA For Radio provides a simple way of manipulating all of this connection information and displaying it on screen.
