AUSTRALIAN RADIO NETWORK SYDNEY

Four months of design and construction finishing in the biggest Commercial Radio Center in Australia. Situated in North Ryde, Sydney, The Australian Radio Network (ARN) center is the new home of WS-FM, MIX 106.5 FM and 96.1 FM as well as hosting four state of the art production studios. The primary equipment for studios is from KLOTZ Digital, whilst the storage system is Prophet Systems Nex Gen. For production, DSP Media systems was used in conjunction with Yamaha O2R consoles. Studio design and construction was under taken by International Technology and Communications Pty Ltd of Sydney, headed by Bob Cronin. Design was by Gerald Stewart, a leading specialist in acoustic design in Australia. Radio Support Services Pty Ltd was responsible for the total Broadcast engineering system design and installation

THE MACQUARIE RADIO NETWORK SYDNEY

Another KLOTZ Digital system was installed for The Macquarie Radio Network in Pyrmont, Sydney providing a new home for stations 2GB and 2CH. The layout design for the studios was created by Radio Support Services, including the system design and installation.

The installation included 5 On Air studios, 2 production studios and a large news room with 2 news booths.

Existing DSP Media systems were relocated from the old installation in Sussex Street, Sydney for production. Studio construction once again undertaken by International Technology and Communications of Sydney.

THE RADIO NETWORK OF NEW ZEALAND

Christchurch in New Zealand is a beautiful city, now home to another Radio Support Services installation. The studio layout and technical design were done by RSS, incorporating 3 On Air studios, a producers studio, 2 production studios and a news room with a booth.

All areas were designed to be multi functional allowing staff to operate any of the 6 existing stations.

Facilities were installed to allow staff from other stations of the TRN Network to host programs from the Christchurch installation.

Consoles used were Soundcraft analog RM100's. with the storage system being Prophet Systems Nex Gen. The facility hosts stations NewsTalk ZB, Classic Hits, Radio Hauraki, 91ZM, Radio Sport, and Easy-I.

A major over haul of facilities in Auckland was undertaken by Radio Support Services with four new Production suites plus rebuilding of six On Air suites. A difficult undertaking as Auckland forms the center of networking operations for the entire TRN network across New Zealand.

Each studio had to be de-commissioned after relocating its format to a temporary location, then the studio was refurbished by builders and painters and finally new furniture and equipment was installed.

At times RSS was in a holding pattern for a week waiting on other trades, so to fill in the time we were dispatched to other regional centers to carry out much needed upgrade works.

A major new installation has since been designed and built in Taupo, New Zealand for TRN by Radio Support Services.

MACQUARIE REGIONAL RADIOWORKS AUSTRALIA

RSS provides design and installation services to MRR across its network of stations throughout Australia.

Recent projects for MRR have included rebuilding of the Gladstone Radio Center post a control room fire, design and build of networking facilities in Hobart, rebuilding of Cairns Radio Center, rebuilding of Griffith Radio Center, rebuilding of The Launceston Radio Center and rebuilding of The Orange Radio Center to name but a few. MRR utilises RSS for these difficult projects because of our ability to integrate into existing facilities which at times can be difficult and where a vast knowledge of operational requirements is required. We also have to maintain full operation during the projects and at times that can be the greatest challenge of all.
